Baker Theatre PAR Completed

The Baker Theatre’s PAR (preliminary architect review) was completed in August, bringing promising plans to the table for a theatre in Baker. The document outlines two potentially viable locations, provides cost estimates for renovating the spaces, and enables the procurement of grant funds to support the renovation efforts.

SMART is seeking motivated and passionate parties who are interested in running the theatre before beginning work on the next phase. The PAR will allow for a non-profit organization, such as SMART, to apply for grants to help with the initial cost of the project.

The Baker Theatre project began in the second half of 2024 and has garnered significant community support and interest. Baker’s last movie theatre closed in 1985, and since then, residents have had to travel to other communities to watch films. The PAR also includes plans for a stage that can be utilized for live performances.
